Nice. 1.9 GTi or 1.6GTi?
There are four 205 GTis for sale on UK Autotrader.
A real modern classic.
I feel the same way about the 1991, Fiesta RS Turbo, 1.6, 131bhp.

Looks like a 1.6 GTi, still nice! Love the 1.9's more due to the wheels they put on them. Can’t beat those 15" wheels! I had a set on my vanilla Peugeot 405. It looked great.

Nope. Sadly. It’s a Museum car. It’s one of the advantages of working there. The cars need exercise somehow!

1.6 gti! It’s an absolute blast. It’s the most connected driving experience I’ve ever had. Period.

What do you wanna know?

I want one of those, even though I’ve heard they were kind of bad.

Small hatches of that period were probably the peak of hot hatch-ness.
Yes over the years they made them more powerful, safer, but they got bigger, they got more complicated and they sort of lost what they were about.
Just look at the 206 GTi, 137bhp.
206 GTi 180, 175bhp.
207 GTi, 175bhp.
208 by Peugeot Sport, 208bhp.
Each good in their own right but just lot something as they replaced them.

Lol. Then you’re doing sacred work!

It just takes me back to my childhood.
I’ve never really heard much bad about them really. Cars back then were pretty much like today, you got some good, you got some bad, some were Tuesday cars and some were Friday cars.
I could probably fill a barn or three of cars I’d want from my childhood.
I mean, look at this sexy Escort RS Turbo.
Modified 1600cvh, 132bhp.
Just look at that cassette holder.
Then the summer cruiser.
1.6 XR3i,

Have you driven it? I just love these so much. I had 3 Peugeot 205s until last November, when I had to sell my GTi 1.6. 2 left now, a ratty base one from 1986 (very fun at city speeds due to the gripless and cheap 145 tires, the instant throttle response and the wallowy yet connected suspension) and a somewhat restomodded CTi (convertible) from 1987 that is almost done.
There really is nothing like it. A BRZ I recently drove was a snoozefest in comparison. Granted, that was an automatic which killed 80% of the fun, but still.

Agreed! Probably the best hot hatch, ever. In 2016 I went from driving my 205 GTi in the Netherlands to a rental Chevy Impala (with 300 hp) in the US the day after. The contrast was... huge. Man, how I was longing for the 205 (any of my Peugeots really) when I was driving that shitty Chevy.
I do wonder though how it is to drive something that small in American traffic. Also, have you checked the space in the rear seat? I can sit behind myself somewhat comfortably and I’m 6'2".
I just looked it up on the Lane website. With the condition that one seems to be in, that’s easily a $20k car in Europe (and especially France) right now. Judging by the seats it’s probably rather low mileage too, right? Mine had 300k km (200k miles) and had some rear crash damage and was still bought sight unseen for $8k.
One small mistake on the website description; the 1.6 GTi wasn’t replaced by the 1.9, they were offered simultaneously for at least 3 years, with the 1.6 being more rev happy and more ‘pure’ and the 1.9 having more torque/power and costing more.

Youd be surprised at how normal it feels to drive in American traffic. i would guess It’s about the size of a fiesta ST, and the pillars are so thin and visibility is so good, it feels pretty normal. Now, that said, I did go straight from the 205 gti to get to work yesterday to our crew cab, long bed Chevy 2500 Silverado with a duramax to run errands for work yesterday, and that was a serious change, for sure.
The Honda today kei car, however is bit of a different story. It’s not only tiny, but it’s also right hand drive, and hilariously slow, so the whole experience just feels, wrong.
